“Separate Discharge Mark System” is

  • In accordance with the implementation of the Extended Producer Responsibility, it is a system that facilitates the separate waste disposal of packing materials subject to recycling obligations and increases the separate collection of recyclable waste so that producers can fulfill their recycling obligations.

Packing Materials Subject to Separate Discharge Mark

  • Packing materials subject to recycling obligations (except for containers subject to the container deposit system) shall have separate discharge marks regardless of the type and scale of places of business.

Collective Labeling of Separate Discharge Mark

  • Putting separate discharge marks on one main component of the multi-packing materials and displaying the names and material names of the other components at once on the upper, lower, left, and right adjacent to the label

Exceptions to Separate Discharge Mark

  • - Non-marking packing materials (film/sheet-type packing materials without displaying any marks such as printing, engraving, or labels on its surface)

  • - Packing materials whose surface area is "less than 50 cm2" (containers and trays) or "less than 100 cm2" (film packing materials)

  • - Packing materials whose "contents" do not exceed 30 mL or 30 g

  • - Packing materials that cannot be technically marked due to materials or structures by means of printing, engraving, or labeling

  • - Wrap films (packing materials thinner than 20 mm)

  • - Packing materials that are directly collected, sorted, and discharged by producers obligated to recycle without going through general consumers, such as follow-up service parts
