Technical Support for WET Management System

Healty Ecosystem and Happy World Daphnia magna is with vou!
The WET Management System aims to examine the hazardous materials in the effluent of the industrial wastewater and to effectively manage their effect on the aquatic ecology. The water fleas were selected as the test sample and put in the effluent to see if they can survive more than 24 hours. This result is described in the TU(Toxic Unit) to represent the level of the WET(Whole Effluent Toxicity)!
WET(Whole Effluent Toxicity, TU)
To evaluate the acute toxicity by injecting water flea(Daphnia Magna) into a sample. the degree to which water flea(Daphnia Magna) is affected by toxicity is calculated as Toxicity Unit(TU)/p>
Characteristics of daphnia magna
- Daphnia magna, which is applied in Korea WET Management System, is about 0.3~6mm in size and is distributed in a wide rage of habitats and has fertile and short life history.
- It is especially sensitive to toxic substances, has high reproducibility of test and easy indoor culture and is the most widely used test species in the world.

Overseas case
The concept of WET(Whole Effluent Toxicity) has been introduced in major developed countries such as USA, Canada and Europe sine the 1970s. Test species have been applied variously according to the type of industrial wastewater such as water flea, bacteria, algae, fish and water quality.
