CEO Message

As of now, the mankind is in the midst of turmoil such as climate changes caused by global warming and the environmental destruction due to reckless energy consumption. The environmental issues are directly linked with the matter of life and death which can shift the paradigm of our economy and life.

Under the full recognition of the crises that we face, the Korea Environment Corporation was launched on January 1st, 2010 by integrating the Korea Environment & Resources Corporation and the Environmental Management Corporation to play its role as the central agency for the Green Growth of Korea by covering the entire fields of the environment including the ambient air, soils, resource circulation, and the environment industry.

While upgrading the level of our existing environmental projects including the projects to prevent the environmental pollution, manage the environment and establish the resource recirculation system, Keco pledges to work on the five major key projects as follows as the leading organization of the low carbon green growth.

The first is the climate change response and greenhouse gas control project. Keco plans to keep abreast of the demands of the international society to prevent global warming by performing the greenhouse gas emission statistics project, calculating the greenhouse gas emission by the self-governing bodies and reinforcing the CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) verification project.

The second is the water environment improvement project. While Keco focusing on the improvement in the water quality for the Four Major Rivers Keco will take the lead in creating the national soil environment that matches the developed nations by running the water pollution prevention center and bolstering the ecological stream restoration project.

The third is the resource recirculation management project. Keco aspires to go beyond the simple form of recycling and to advance the waste management, build a futuristic city of low carbon and install the facility for converting waste materials to energy. In the meanwhile, Keco will embark on a variety of new projects including the urban mining project.

The fourth is the environment & public health project. An increasing number of people are suffering from the modern diseases such as atopic dermatitis and asthma. Keco will make a concerted effort to better the public health environment for the public by operating the Asbestos Damage Relief Center and developing the environment-friendly playgrounds for children.

The last but not least is our support to the nation-wide environmental policies and cultivation of the environment industry. We plan to strengthen our supports to policies and industries to increase the efficiency in execution of the environmental policies and nurture the domestic environment industry. We will also reinforce the international cooperation to cope swiftly to the fast-changing international environmental trends.

To that end, Keco will achieve the advancement in the labor-management relation and organizational harmony while increasing the management efficiency of the human resources and the entire organization. Moreover, we will take the current level of expertise in the respective environmental fields to the next level and cultivate our international visions in the environment and insights on the issues of the global environment.

With a sense of duty as the public utility, everyone at Keco will make sure to firmly position it as the integrated environmental service agency that leads the green growth of Korea on the back of relentless efforts towards customer satisfaction and successful execution of the advanced management. We would like your continuous interest and support.

Thank you.

Seung Hwan Park / Chairman of the Korea Environment Corporation
